Photo-montage of fish out of the water Photo Blog P#419 :

Some words about the current picture:

P#419: Photo-montage of fish out of the water.

A little matte for the week end. Transparent water thanks to polarizing filters (a B&W filter) (and really clear water too), the fish was taken with the 17/40 and the top with a 50mm 1.4. For those who need some "inspiration" I've just created a Tumblr (the niciest microblogging platform) where I post, almost everyday, pictures I found nice and inspiring (this actually is my tastes of the moment...). I called this my "clipboard" and it can be reached here: Laurent Batailley Images Clipboard, if, like me, you love to have plenty images to look at everyday, and have also a tumblr or something like that (fffound account etc...), feel free to drop an url. Hope you'll enjoy, Have a nice week end.
Update: Shot at Omega Park, Montebello, Quebec, Canada. More info

  • @All: Just coming back from a nice week end @ Boston, MA. Thank you all for the comments, I'm glad to see that you liked this image. I'm pretty sorry about all that spam poping around, I'll try to implement a kind of weird but functionnal solution to prevent that (thank you Julien for the idea).

  • I used a polarizer for years but i never knew you could do something like this. Is this really only done with a circ. pola?PiXistenZ @ 2008-10-19 14:40:25
  • hello Kris, the polarizer have eliminated the light reflections of the water as it can eliminate light reflection on a window, the light was nice and the water was really clear and not so deep. Also the angle between water surface and lens is optimal to obtain the transparency, near parallele @ 17mm.Laurent @ 2008-10-19 19:20:41
  • The clarity of the water is unreal in this one, it really adds another dimension to the image!Claus Petersen @ 2008-10-20 04:39:47
